Climate
During the cooler months the area has warm day and cool nights, and in the warmer months, huge redgums offer shade from the sun. Temperatures range from 9 to 37 degrees Celsius and the average rainfall is around 370 mm.
Agriculture
Farming properties receive water from either the Torrumbarry Irrigation System through a series of channels or by pumping directly from the river. Dairying is the major agricultural industry. The Murray sands are also well suited to growing citrus. The clear sunny days and cool nights assist with fruit ripening and the low rainfall and humidity does not favour the development of outbreaks of citrus pests and disease. Lucerne, canola, wheat, barley and millet are also produced and to a lesser extent, sheep and beef cattle.
