Murrabit Playgroup Inc

Murrabit Playgroup offers excellent facilities (in the former pre-school building) for under school aged children.  Activities are held on  Friday mornings. The venue is also used by the Gannawarra Family Day Care Scheme to run an innovative In-Venue Family Day Care program.

Activities are held in the Murrabit Public Hall fortnightly. The local seniors enjoy carpet bowls, a game of cards, afternoon tea and a chat, with the occasional tour or day trip.

The Murrabit Football Club participates in the Golden Rivers Football League and sports a Senior and Reserves team and two Junior sides (under 17’s and under 14’s). The club has excellent facilities and a strong social calendar during the football season. For those who don’t see themselves as players, there are opportunities to get involved in central and boundary umpiring, administration, and many other forms of participation.  The club takes pride in being accredited with Level 2 in the Good Sports Accreditation Program.  The Murrabit Netball Club participates alongside our club and fields 6 teams.

The Murrabit Netball Club participates in the Golden Rivers Netball League, with three Senior and three Junior teams.  The club boasts two quality courts and are actively involved socially with the football club and community.

Murrabit Fire Brigade

The Murrabit Fire Brigade has a high volunteer involvement from the community.  The district is serviced safely by a fully equipped fire tanker and two mobile trailer units.

Murrabit & District Lions Club

The Murrabit Lions Club is a fun and enthusiastic service group. Fundraising through their own food operation at Murrabit Markets and clearing sales.  The club utilises funds to support Lions projects of their choice.  Many community groups benefit from the generosity of the Murrabit and District Lions Club.   ‘Community service’ is also offered to those who are elderly or in need of help living in the area.

Murrabit Book Club

The Murrabit Book Club was formed in 1981 when a group of people who were all interested in reading decided that  Murrabit should have a book club.  Book clubs are run through the Council of Adult Education in Melbourne.
